Dr. Jiss J Nallikuzhy

Jiss J Nallikuzhy is a postdoctoral researcher in the Translational Medical Device Lab at the National University of Ireland, Galway. He has completed his Ph.D. in Electronics and Electrical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, India. His research was focused on enhancing the spatial resolution of ECG (ECG synthesis) using transform domain models where the spatio-temporal correlations in a twelve-lead ECG signal were exploited using various machine learning techniques. He holds an M.Tech. degree in Signal Processing (College of Engineering Trivandrum, Kerala, India) and B.Tech. degree in Applied Electronics and Instrumentation (Rajagiri School of Engineering & Technology, Kerala, India). He has several publications related to the Spatial Enhancement of ECG and has received the best paper award for his work titled  ‘Spatially Enhanced ECG using Patient-Specific Dictionary Learning’ in the 2018 IEEE EMBS Conference on Biomedical Engineering and Sciences (IECBES 2018). His research interests include Biomedical Signal Processing, Machine learning and Health Informatics.

He is currently working towards the development of a fetal monitoring device (Leanbh TIDA project) to identify intrapartum fetal hypoxia/acidosis for reducing the incidence of preterm and stillbirths, and to prevent high-risk unnecessary obstetric interventions.
